About
Combining different artistic languages, Biba Bettega and Richard Romanini form Ato 1 Lab, a multidisciplinary atelier based in Curitiba. Suggesting crafted bespoke “landscapes”, the idea of hybrid permeates all areas, formats and aesthethics that get shaped as creative direction, art direction, scenography and audiovisual design and production for film and theater projects.
Ato 1 Lab started in 2010 when the set designers arrived to Brazil from an experience in theatrical scenography in Milan, where they graduated at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and acted professionally in both scenic and architecture areas, as well as graphic design, video and motion graphics.
Set design, props, costumes and art direction developed by Ato 1 Lab have brought to life self commissioned projects as well as advertising campaign concepts.
Biba Bettega
Graduated in Architecture and Urban Planning in 1996 at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná in Curitiba/Brazil.
Begins her professional career in 1997 collaborating with the architecture office Anastassakis & associados s/c, Rio de Janeiro/Brazil working at the urbanization of favelas for the program “Favela-Bairro”; renovation of street furniture and redevelopment of central areas for the Program “Rio Cidade”.
In 2004 achieves a degree in stage design at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan.
During the following five years worked for Fulvio Ricciuti Associati S.r.l.in Milan, in the role of architect and coordinator responsible for the projects “Cotton Bay Golf & Resort”, situated on the island of Sal (Republic of Green Cape) and “White sands Golf & Resort” complex, situated on the island of Boa Vista (Republic of Green Cape).
Since 2009, performs as co-founder and administrator of Ato 1 Lab, working as producer, creative and art director. Develops set design projects for different clients such as Volvo, TV Escola, Pearson education, Vogue Brasil, Grupo Boticário, Bergerson, Heads Propaganda, Taste ag. e Positivo.
Richard Romanini
In 2009 moved from Italy to Brazil.
While in Milan, in 2005, earned a degree in stage design from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. During the following four years in Milan worked as art director, designer and video editor for advertising, commercials and multimedia platforms for different clients such as Samsung Italia, MTV Italia, All Music, Miss Sixty, Piuarch, Triennale Design Museum and Rojo Magazine.
Today is based in Curitiba, Brazil.
Since 2009, performs as co-founder of Ato 1 Lab, working as creative and art director, audiovisual designer and developing set design projects for clients such as Volvo, TV Escola, Pearson education, Vogue Brasil, Grupo Boticário, Bergerson, Heads Propaganda, Taste ag. e Positivo.
